TOURIST INFO MAURITIUS

Expedition Tour website as a guide has most travel information needed for a memorable holiday in Mauritius.

Mauritius is an all year round holiday destination. It is advised to make your travel arrangements well in advance, especially if you intend visiting around the busy Christmas and New Year period. Keep in mind that many accommodations rates during the peak season become more expensive. Expedition Tour provides a large selection of self catering and private accommodations in Mauritius, which might better fit into your budget and allowing you to discover Mauritius. Another important consideration of planning your holiday in advance is the wide range of Mauritius attraction and activities Mauritius is providing. Sporting and leisure considerations may play a part in when you choose to visit. December to March is best for diving as the water is said to be clearer; June to August is best for surfing along the south coast; trekking and hiking is advised around April to September, when the temperature are cooler; and October to March is best for big-game fishing, when the large predators feed closer to shore. Mauritius Tourism information

If you plan to do some shopping in Mauritius you’ll surely find a lot of things to buy. Mauritius is a shopping paradise and you should left some space in your suitcase for souvenirs, clothes & textiles, trademarks & labels, jewelry, bags, model ships, paintings, artisanal & handicraft.

Clothes: Keep clothing light and in cotton wherever possible. Anything as formal as a suite is unnecessary, but it’s good to have a smart shirt and pair of trousers, or a dress or skirt for dinners out. Make sure you have protection from the sun (hat, sunglasses, and sun-block). During the winter months it cools down a bit at night and you’ll need some warm clothing. Intending trekkers should bring good, strong footwear.

Emergency Kit: Bring along with you a basic medical kit including any daily health care on your physician advice. It’s not a bad idea to pack insect repellent and a beach towel if you stay away from a resort accommodation.
